Adopt Fig!
Fig was born at the Long Island Aquarium in February 2025. She arrived at Grandfather Mountain in March 2026, making her a little over a year old when she joined our family.
Fig currently lives with her friend, Oscar, who she enjoys playing with in the water. They both enjoy playing “chase” games together, water wrestling, grooming each other and taking long naps in their cozy bed after lunch. River otters are playful by nature and typically enjoy the company of others. While we expect them to befriend other river otters, otters in captive care may also enjoy the company of keepers and guests. Fig has been no exception! She loves to play chase with her keepers at the fence, and she is constantly trying to make friends with the other animals who live close to her.
