11/17/2025 UPDATE: The Black Rock Trail and Grandfather Extention Trail are closed for the next few days for a park infrastructure project.

The elevator in the Top Shop is not currently working due to a mechanical issue. We expect the elevator to not be operational for a few weeks. At this time, the Swinging Bridge is only accessible via stairs (either the set outside or the set in the Top Shop). We apologize for the inconvenience.

Winter Hiking

Winter hikes on Grandfather are often very magical – but you should take extra precautions due to our mile-high extreme winter weather. On many days, brilliant blue skies create 100-mile views. Plan ahead with our winter hiking tips.
