Rough Ridge is an exceptionally popular spot on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and as one of the most colorful spots during autumn, it’s easy to see why. With access located at Milepost 302.8, this particular trail and ridgeline historically boasts some of the earliest and most vibrant fall color on the parkway, while offering majestic views of the valleys below. Even with this year’s slow-moving color change, Rough Ridge has already been showcasing some of the area’s brightest seasonal hues. As temperatures are predicted to remain cool throughout the week, color development is expected to begin spreading through more of the High Country’s higher elevations.
