Fall color embraces the slopes of Grandfather Mountain, as seen from the boulders at neighboring Grandmother Mountain. According to Dr. Howard Neufeld, “Fall Color Guy” and professor of biology at Appalachian State University, color should peak at elevations near 3,000 feet around Tuesday or Wednesday this week. Fortunately, color is expected to still be abundant over the weekend, which Neufeld feels will be a prime time to see colors in the Boone, Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain areas.
