Rocky Top: The Art of Grandfather’s Trail System
June 15 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm$20 – $60
Known as one of the most rugged mountains in the southeastern United States, Grandfather Mountain’s trails share the same status. Oftentimes, unique approaches have to be used to maintain this trail system. John Caveny, Grandfather Mountain Natural Resource Management Specialist, has been maintaining the trails within the park for six years, and few people know the ins and outs of the trail like he does.
This course will provide participants with an in-depth look at how to sustainably maintain hiking trails, as well as discover the history of the mountain’s trail system. This course may involve 4 to 7 miles of strenuous activity. Limited to 12 participants.
Registration costs $60 standard or $20 for Bridge Club members. Bridge Club members must present a valid Bridge Club ID with their event ticket/receipt, or they will be charged full price. To register, see below.
