All-Day Fall Color Ramble

A Grandfather Mountain naturalist leads a Fall Color Ramble.

Grandfather Mountain’s Fall Color Ramble wraps up on Oct. 15 with a day full of fall-color activities, including naturalist talks and additional rambles, allowing participants to explore and admire the annual phenomenon. Included with admission.

Fall Color Rambles | 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. | Location: Meet at the Mildred the Bear Habitats entrance sign

Join a naturalist for a family-friendly, easy ramble through the leaves. These walks last approximately 20 minutes.

Kid’s Arts & Crafts | 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Location: Classroom in the Clouds in the Wilson Center

Make your own leaf prints and other arts & crafts.

Meet the Scientist: Dr. Howie Neufeld, the “Fall Color Guy” and Appalachian State University Professor | 1:30 to 2 p.m. | Location: Classroom in the Clouds in the Wilson Center

Ever wonder why the fall color season is different from year to year? Dr. Neufeld is here to answer your questions! Annually, he predicts fall color change through careful observation and scientific study.
