It’s a pleasant Saturday in the NC High Country and a great time to visit and see fall color. These hikers are crossing the Boone Fork Bridge on the Tanawha Trail, accessed near Blue Ridge Parkway Milepost 300. (Photo by Landis Taylor)
The Grandfather Mountain attraction and Grandfather Mountain State Park are not affected by the national government shutdown and remain open to visitors. While facilities along the Blue Ridge Parkway are closed, the road remains open and is a great place to see fall color, especially between Grandfather Mountain and Blowing Rock, NC.
