Although many trees have shed their leaves within the High Country’s higher elevations, others at lower elevations are still sporting a little green, as seen in this photo taken along the Blue Ridge Parkway near Linville Falls (MP 316). From atop Grandfather Mountain, guests can see the color change spread throughout the valleys below, which, according to experts, should be peaking this weekend at certain elevations within the mid- to lower 3,000-foot range. Saturday also marks the park’s annual Beary Scary Halloween festival, featuring Halloween-themed arts and crafts, a costume contest with prizes, trick-or-treating throughout the park and more. Plus, kids in costume receive half-priced admission!
