The Linn Cove Viaduct remains one of the most popular vantage points from which to take in the High Country’s autumn splendor. Fall color is exploding around this particular area of the Blue Ridge Parkway (milepost 304.4) and Grandfather Mountain, with vibrant reds, golds, oranges and yellows coming into play. Furthermore, color remains strong in both northbound and southbound directions from this point, including Beacon Heights (south) and Rough Ridge (north). With consistently cool weather in store, fall foliage will continue to spread over the coming weeks into elevations of 3,500 feet and below.

This coming weekend also marks one of the busiest in the High Country, with an Appalachian State University home football game in Boone, the Valle Country Fair in Valle Crucis and the Woolly Worm Festival in Banner Elk.
