The Buzz on Grandfather's New Bee Hives

honey beeIn an effort to further promote a healthy balance in the ecological communities on Grandfather Mountain, two staff members have become apprentice beekeepers in the North Carolina State Beekeepers Association mentoring program. Four new hives were installed in May and the bees are doing very well. Read more about it.

Progress Report on the New Top Shop

top parking lotEvery person who drove to the summit on May 13th came down saying that the wind had blown the building away! It was just timing that the removal of the building was completed just before the biggest wind storm of the year, but it did seem pretty ironic when you consider all the wind and weather that the old building endured in its 47 years! Wood carver Tom Wolfe invites everyone to visit his new shop in the Woods Walk Picnic Area. Tom is on site from 11 to 3 most days, weather permitting.
