Painted Trillium

The white flower has a distinctive red inverted “V” at the base of each petal. Although more common in the north, these plants occur in bogs and hemlock or spruce-fir forests in the North Carolina mountains. April-May.

  • Enjoyed your work of art in August.  The mountain has came a long ways since my last trip 17 years ago, and all for the good. I am glad  the bridge is accessible to persons in wheelchairs, as I am. Thanks for a good day.
